About 200 deliveries a day were planned by hand on a whiteboard. We built a small web tool that groups orders by postcode, suggests a route and prints a driver sheet. The dispatcher kept the final say — the tool only removed the arithmetic.
Two systems produced invoices in different formats and someone compared them in a spreadsheet every Friday. We wrote a reconciliation service with an explicit mapping table, idempotent imports and a short exception report. The Friday ritual is now a five-minute check.
The workshop answered the same “where is my order” email all day. We built a small status page with a private link per order, fed by the production schedule. No customer accounts, no app, just a page that is always current.
